Site Map

Every page on this site, by section. Twenty-seven pages in six groups: five subject sections and a reference group holding the archive, the resource list and the site's policies.

If you are reading in order, start with the topics page, which sets the sections out in the sequence that usually makes sense. If you have arrived with a specific problem, the section headings below are the faster route — and if the problem is urgent, the two pages most people need first are crisis planning and probate and estate administration.

About the addresses on this site

Page addresses follow the convention this domain has used since its earliest published pages: capitalised words separated by hyphens, ending in .shtml, within section folders. That convention is preserved deliberately. Addresses that have been cited elsewhere on the web for years are worth keeping intact, and changing them for the sake of tidiness would break links that other people wrote in good faith.

Older addresses that no longer correspond to a page are redirected to the closest current equivalent wherever an honest one exists — a superseded section folder to its successor, an archived note to the reference page covering the same subject. Where no honest equivalent exists, the old address simply returns nothing rather than sending a reader somewhere that does not answer the question they arrived with. Pages describing individuals, and the enquiry and appointment pages this domain once carried, fall into that second category: this publication has no equivalent to redirect them to, and inventing one would be worse than an honest dead end.

A machine-readable index of every page here is published at /sitemap.xml, and the crawling rules are at /robots.txt.
